Just hours after plans were announced for Microsoft to spend $3.3 billion to build an artificial intelligence data center campus in Mount Pleasant, the company’s president talked about the impact the project will have on the state’s economy.

“We are going to be building among the world’s most advanced AI and cloud data centers that you will see anywhere,” said Brad Smith, vice chair and president of Microsoft.

Microsoft today announced a broad investment package designed to strengthen the role of Southeast Wisconsin as a hub for AI-powered economic activity, innovation, and job creation.
