Milwaukee Tool serves as an example of how public-private partnership can supercharge corporate growth. This document details how the company’s decision to expand in Brookfield is a win for all of Southeastern Wisconsin.
Securing corporate investment is a globally competitive business. Communities across the country and around the world recognize the value of having a growing company in their area. Investment made by companies like Milwaukee Tool, which garners most of its sales from customers located far away from Wisconsin, is particularly valuable because it results in new jobs and income flowing into
our region. Put simply, our economy grows through the presence of firms like Milwaukee Tool.
The Milwaukee 7 (M7) worked collaboratively with Milwaukee Tool, City of Brookfield, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and Waukesha County Center for Growth on four separate expansion projects. Through this partnership, and the public incentives it provided, Milwaukee Tool was able to move faster and do more than it otherwise may have done on its own, resulting in an exponential increase in sales over the previous seven years (see chart on page 5).
