Uline Inc., already a likely contender for the region’s largest building occupier with more than 10 million square feet of industrial and office space in Kenosha County, plans to develop four more large distribution centers.
Those four buildings would bring another 4.5 million square feet of distribution space for future growth, according to a Thursday statement issued by Uline. That would start with a 1.4 million-square-foot building that is to start construction later this year.
“Uline is excited that this growth will provide job opportunities to the residents of Kenosha County and surrounding communities,” the company’s printed statement reads. “As a long-standing corporate citizen, we are proud to continue our investment and commitment in the community.”
The four new buildings are planned for 350 acres Uline purchased last year west of Interstate 94 at the interchange with Highway 142. Uline also has four large buildings in that area of Kenosha with 3.3 million square feet.
Uline already has more than 2,500 employees in Kenosha County between its Kenosha campus, Pleasant Prairie headquarters and multiple buildings it leases from other real estate firms. Its expanding footprint of industrial space is rivaled in the region only by Amazon.com.
A distributor of packaging and other shipping products, Uline moved its headquarters to Pleasant Prairie from Illinois in 2010. The company reports having more than 9,000 employees total across 13 branch locations and 14 sales offices.
