Premium paper packaging company GZ PrintPak will spend $7.1 million to expand production capacity at its recently opened Mount Pleasant manufacturing site to manufacture luxury paper bags, according to a Thursday announcement from the company and local economic development groups.
GZ PrintPak is owned by GZ Media, the world’s largest vinyl record producer which is based in the Czech Republic.
The company’s latest investment into its 69,000-square-foot manufacturing space is expected to create 40 jobs. The investment will allow GZ PrintPak to expand its offerings to include collapsible and standard boxes and co-packing services. The company is also considering the acquisition of a printing company to diversify its services, according to Thursday’s announcement.
“We’re really proud to be here, because Wisconsin offers an ideal mix of workforce availability, infrastructure, and location advantages — enabling us to better serve our customers across North America,” said Peter Levenec, GZ Media’s chairman of the board and chief commercial officer. “We look forward to building strong partnerships within the Wisconsin community and becoming a reliable, responsible employer in the region.”
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) is supporting the project by authorizing up to $300,000 in state income tax credits over the next three years. The actual amount of tax credits GZ PrintPak will receive is contingent on the number of jobs created and the capital invested in the project.
GZ PrintPak first established a presence in Mount Pleasant at 13505 Louis Sorenson Road in 2024, according to the company’s website. The Mount Pleasant facility officially began operations in early 2025.
Milwaukee 7 (M7), the regional economic development organization, and Racine County Economic Development Corp. also worked to attract GZ PrintPak to Wisconsin.
“We’re thrilled to welcome GZ PrintPak to southeastern Wisconsin,” said Rebecca Gries, executive director of M7. “Their investment strengthens our region’s advanced manufacturing sector and reflects the confidence global companies have in our talent and resources. This is a win for innovation and for the communities that power our economy.”
